SeSTA Green Million Campaign
About the Campaign
The SeSTA Green Million Campaign aims to plant one million trees across Assam, beginning on World Environment Day 2025. More than an environmental effort, it’s a collective mission to restore land, support livelihoods, and build climate-resilient ecosystems. Rooted in community action, the campaign brings together farmers, women’s groups, and professionals to green Bongaigaon, Chirang, and Dhubri. These trees, planted on community and individual lands, are living assets that symbolize hope, care, and a commitment to future generation
Why Trees ? Why Now ?
Climate change is hitting Assam hard — rising temperatures, frequent floods, and loss of green cover. SeSTA’s Green Million campaign aims to combat this through one of nature’s best solutions: trees.
We are working with rural communities to plant and care for 1 million trees by September 2025 — creating green livelihoods and restoring biodiversity.

FAQS
Why this initiative of crowdsourcing?
The SeSTA Green Million campaign is a powerful step toward creating climate-resilient, biodiversity-rich, and economically empowering landscapes across Northeast India. At its heart, this initiative aims to plant and nurture one million trees through large-scale, community-led efforts that restore ecosystems, support sustainable incomes, and build long-term climate resilience.
How can I make a contribution under this initiative?
Contributing to the SeSTA’s Green Million is simple, impactful, and deeply personal. With just Rs. 30, you can help plant a tree that will grow to offer shade, fruit, livelihood, and climate hope for generations to come.
You can contribute by choosing from easy donation options on our website — whether it’s one sapling or a small forest!
Where does my money go?
Your contribution helps bring life back to the land — whether it’s a farmer’s backyard, a stretch of degraded forest, or a shared community plot.
Depending on where the trees are planted, your donation supports:
- On individual lands: Helping smallholder families plant fruit and timber trees that boost their income and food security.
- On community lands: Supporting women’s groups and youth collectives to green village commons, schools, and public spaces.
- On forest and degraded lands: Assisting with ecological restoration through native species, water conservation structures, and protection measures.
Why is SeSTA launching this campaign?
Planting trees contributes to environmental restoration, soil and water conservation, and long-term livelihood support (e.g., fruit-bearing trees). It also aligns with our vision of climate-resilient communities.
Who will take care of the trees after the plantation?
SeSTA will work with community-based organizations and Gram Sabhas to ensure tree maintenance. Capacity-building and regular monitoring will be part of the implementation strategy.
